Yesterday, I met up with one of my uni friends in Singapore. After having a few drinks and busy updating about each other's current lives, suddenly she asked me whether I still hang out with "the same gang". What she meant was the group of friends which I hang out during year 2002 to 2005. Then she suddenly dug out a lot of names and slowly asked me how are they doing at the moment.
After telling her that I no longer hanging out with "the same gang" because most of them had graduated and went back to their home countries or I am having different kind of hobbies now that I am mixing with people with the same hobbies! Hahaha... Moreover, she kept on asking who are those friends I am hanging out with at the moment and whether she knows any one of them. But I did manage to update a few old friends' lives for her. Then she couldn't help but wonder, how did I know so much things if I am no longer hanging out with them.
"Huh? From Facebook loh. Can see their walls, pictures and you will roughly know how they are doing lately. You can see my friends from my Facebook pictures what!"
"I am not so active on Facebook."
"Then you sign up for fuck sia?"
"I only play games, that's all. Seriously I only log in to my account to play game everyday. I don't see people's pictures, go see people's profile, send gifts and stuff... so boliaoz and I am not as kpo as you!!!"
"What??!!! Are you serious? You don't look like that kind of person who just-play-game-and-dun-kpo!"
Well, actually she is not the first one I know who is not so active online. For me, Internet is my life, if I can't go online for 30 mins I think my whole world would crash and burn! There are so many things that you can do online! But I met one girl at uni last time, I have asked for her Facebook account and she said "what's that?" Huh? I swear to God I am telling the truth here!!!!!!
She told me that she didn't even have an MSN account but she does have an email account for important things like emails from the uni and friends regarding assignments and stuff. When I asked her what does she do most of the time if she doesn't spend most of her time in front of the computer. She said shopping, watching tv, reading lots of story books, hang out with friends, etc. But................................................................. she never even have a 15 minutes time to go online?????!!!!!!!!!
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!
She said that going online is not that important to her and she doesn't find it fun. Somehow I find it hard for me to accept this. Either she is a dinosaur who is facing serious extinction in this world, or she just doesn't want me to be her Facebook friend or to be added into her MSN list. Period.
Will you be able to give up the Internet?"
"Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach that person to use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks."
"A journey of a thousand sites begins with a single click."
